Summary

The World Justice Project is seeking a Social Media and Communications Manager to shape and implement a dynamic social media and digital outreach strategy that cultivates, engages, and empowers a multidisciplinary movement to advance the rule of law around the world. The position is based in Washington, D.C., and will report to the Chief Communications Officer.

This creative, analytical, collaborative, and globally oriented communicator will manage WJP's social media channels and email communications; create and source a regular flow of content that makes the World Justice Project's rich data, research, convenings and thought leadership resources more broadly accessible and actionable; plan, execute and evaluate digital campaigns that advance organizational goals, build WJP's followings and network, and measurably engage target audiences. The Social Media and Communications Manager will be a key member of a growing communications team working to build WJP's brand while sharing knowledge, building awareness, and stimulating action to advance human rights, access to justice, government accountability, civic participation, good governance, and other rule of law factors measured in the annual WJP Rule of Law Index.

Responsibilities

  • Develop WJP's social media goals, strategy and voice across channels.
  • Develop and maintain editorial and social media calendars.
  • Develop strategies to translate WJP data into a regular flow of social media content that connects to the editorial calendar, current events, emerging trends, campaigns and other timely opportunities.
  • Manage WJP social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to grow and segment WJP's email list, maintain a consistent flow of high-quality content that provides value to a variety of target audiences, offer compelling engagement opportunities, and present a cohesive narrative and framework for a multidisciplinary rule of law movement.
  • Write, edit and source copy and content for website news, event and landing pages.
  • Collaborate with designers and other communications colleagues and consultants to develop compelling infographics and multimedia content for digital channels.
  • Develop and execute digital campaigns to engage and grow WJP's network and the rule of law movement, increase understanding of the rule of law, build support for rule of law solutions, promote WJP data and analysis, advance advocacy goals, drive event participation and build donor support.
  • Consult with colleagues across the organization to develop social media and digital outreach strategies that help achieve institutional and coalition goals.
  • Build strong online and offline relationships with social media colleagues at partner and allied organizations and with thought leaders within our networks who are active on social media.
  • Stay up to date on social media and digital campaign best practices, trends and tools.
  • Monitor social media for WJP mentions, peer organization and network activity, and trends within target audience communities; engage when appropriate and opportune; report internally on key developments and trends.
  • Provide social media training and coaching to WJP thought leaders.
  • Assist with other communications needs, such as audience research, presentations, events, knowledge management and internal communications.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience in social media, communications and/or marketing-related roles
  • Experience managing social media platforms and analytics tracking/reporting; preferred
  • Superior writing skills; demonstrated ability to effectively tailor content to perform well with a variety of target audiences across a range of platforms
  • Strong creative skills and basic design knowledge/experience; experience with Adobe creative tools (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) preferred
  • Strong analytical skills; experience with data analysis and facility with Excel preferred
  • Experience with digital campaign planning, management and measurement
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and content management systems; experience with Google Analytics and SEO optimization
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment; ability to work independently as well as in group settings; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under deadline pressure
  • Interest in and knowledge of global justice issues; international experience preferred
  • Commitment to WJP's mission and principles (worldjusticeproject.org).
  • Foreign language abilities preferred, especially Spanish
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.

Physical Requirements

While performing the responsibilities of the job, this person will frequently be required to use finger dexterity as well as sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. This person may need to remain seated for long periods of time, have the ability to perform repetitive motions, grasp objects, including a writing instrument, stand, communicate verbally and hear well enough to detect nuances, and receive detailed information. This person may be required to walk, push or pull objects, bend, squat, reach, or kneel. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for expansive reading and data analysis. Working Conditions

The work conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing this job. This person will typically work indoors in a heated and air-conditioned office, with a mixture of natural, incandescent and fluorescent light with low to moderate noise levels.
